Apple’s Journal app, once only for iPhones, is now coming to iPads and Macs with the upcoming iPadOS 26 and macOS 26 updates. This app, which lets users save their daily thoughts, memories, and moments with photos, videos, and voice notes, is expanding to make use of bigger screens.
On iPads, the app will work with the Apple Pencil, so users can add doodles or sketches to their entries, making them more personal and fun.
For Mac users, typing longer, thoughtful entries is easier, and you can view your memories on a map to see where they happened. The app also uses smart suggestions, pulling in things like photos, locations, or music from your device to inspire what you write about.
The Journal app first launched on iPhones in December 2023, and now, almost two years later, it’s ready for Apple’s other devices.
This update was shared at WWDC 2025, where Apple showed off new features for its operating systems. The bigger screens on iPads and Macs will give users more space to create and explore their entries, making journaling more enjoyable.
While the app is still about capturing everyday moments or special events, these updates make it easier to use across all your Apple devices. The iPadOS 26 and macOS 26 updates, which include the Journal app, will roll out this fall. Get ready to jot down your thoughts in a whole new way.
